AI transparency

The EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689) requires transparency in Article 50: anyone who chats with an AI, or reads and sees content generated by an AI, should be able to recognise it. That is why we label AI content right where it appears. This page explains what the labels mean.

At present, every article in the blog is created with AI: our own guides as well as the articles from an external AI editorial service, which are published automatically. Every AI article carries the label AI directly below the headline and on the cards of the blog overview. In the RSS feed, its description starts with the matching notice.

• Created with AI: the text was produced with AI.
• Edited with AI: a person wrote the text and an AI edited it.

The cover images of our own guides are typeset graphics made without AI and carry no badge. The images in articles from the external AI editorial service, by contrast, are labelled as AI images.

On this website, AI-generated images carry the badge AI image in the top right corner. This applies to all images in articles from the external AI editorial service, because the service does not tell us where they come from. When such an article is shared or shown in the RSS feed, the preview image has no badge. There, the notice is only in the image description.

The chat on this website is an AI assistant. It answers using a language model and does not give binding information. If you request a callback on the AI telephony page, it is currently a person who calls you back. Should an AI make the call in future, it will say so at the start of the conversation.

In addition to the visible labels, we also mark AI articles for machines: in the structured data with the property digitalSourceType from the IPTC vocabulary, and in the page head with the meta tag ai-disclosure. These markers add to the visible labels, they do not replace them.
